⚡ Quick answer

Best overall: Lovable (83/100), the easiest way for non-developers to ship a full app with a backend.

  • Best value and fastest prototypes: Bolt (81/100). Lowest paid entry price, full dev environment in the browser. Try Bolt (affiliate link)
  • Best for developers on GitHub and Vercel: v0 (80/100). Highest quality and trust scores of the three.

The three are within 3 points of each other. Pick on fit, not on the small gap.

Bolt, Lovable and v0 are the three best-known "prompt to app" builders: you describe what you want, and an AI agent writes, runs and deploys the code. They look similar in a demo. In practice they're aimed at different people, price usage differently and leave your app in different places. This comparison uses our public scores from the Coding & vibe coding ranking, where every tool is rated on the same standard task: build a small web app from one prompt, then make three follow-up changes.

Head-to-head scores

Our score weights fit (30), quality (25), ease (15), value (15), momentum (10) and trust (5). Here is where each builder wins and loses.

Factor (weight)LovableBoltv0
Fit for the use case (30)848280
Output quality (25)807882

Value / pricing (15)727868
Momentum (10)887875
Trust / maturity (5)807888

Highlighted = best of the three on that factor.

The pattern is clear: Lovable wins on fit, ease and momentum, Bolt wins on value and is a close second on ease, and v0 wins on output quality and trust. None of them is the best at everything.

Pricing compared

BoltYesPro $18/mo billed annually ($216/yr); Teams $27/member/mo billed annually
Lovable5 build credits/day, max 30/moPro from $25/mo for 100 credits
v07 messages/dayPlus from $30/user/mo; Business $100/user/mo

Checked Oct 20, 2026 against vendor pricing pages and docs. All three meter usage with credits or messages, so heavy build sessions can cost more than the base plan.

Who each tool is for

1. Lovable

Chat to build websites and web apps
83*

Lovable is a chat-first app builder: you describe a website or web app, and Lovable writes it, hosts it and runs it, including a built-in backend it calls Cloud. It scores highest of the three on ease and momentum, which is why it leads our coding ranking among prompt-to-app builders.

Who it's for: founders, marketers and other non-developers who want a working product with logins and data, not just a landing page. Who it's not for: heavy daily users on a tight budget. The free plan allows 5 build credits a day (30 a month at most), and Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, so long build sessions cost more than on Bolt's entry plan.

Pricing: Free (5 build credits/day, max 30/mo); Pro from $25/mo for 100 credits. Checked Oct 20, 2026. Full Lovable score breakdown →

2. Bolt

Prompt, run, edit, and deploy full-stack web apps
81*

Bolt, from StackBlitz, runs the whole development environment in your browser. You prompt, it builds, and you can run, edit and deploy the full-stack app without installing anything. Hosting, unlimited databases and connectors are included.

Who it's for: beginners and vibe coders who want the quickest path from idea to running prototype, and anyone who wants to look at and edit the generated code in the same window. Its paid entry price is the lowest of the three at $18 a month billed annually. Who it's not for: teams that already deploy everything on Vercel, which v0 plugs into directly.

Pricing: Free; Pro $18/mo billed annually ($216/yr); Teams $27/member/mo billed annually. Checked Oct 20, 2026. Full Bolt score breakdown →

3. v0

Vercel's AI app builder
80*

v0 is Vercel's AI builder for UIs and full apps. It adds a visual Design Mode for tweaking layouts without prompting, GitHub sync, and one-click deploys to Vercel. It scores highest of the three on output quality and trust, but lowest on value.

Who it's for: developers and designers who care about clean front-end code and already use GitHub and Vercel, so the generated app drops into a normal workflow. Who it's not for: people who want lots of free usage. The free plan allows 7 messages a day, and paid plans start at $30 per user a month.

Pricing: Free (7 messages/day); Plus from $30/user/mo; Business $100/user/mo. Checked Oct 20, 2026. Full v0 score breakdown →

Which one should you pick?

You're not a developer and want a real product

Start with Lovable. It has the highest ease score of the three and includes a built-in backend, so you don't have to set up a separate service to store your app's data. If you hit the free credit limit while you're still exploring, Bolt's cheaper paid entry point is a reasonable fallback.

You want a quick prototype to show someone this week

Bolt is built for this. Everything runs in the browser, hosting and databases are included, and you can open the code and change it directly when the AI gets something wrong.

You're a developer or designer with an existing stack

v0 fits best if your team already uses GitHub and Vercel. Design Mode helps with visual polish, GitHub sync keeps the code in your repo, and deploys go straight to Vercel. If you'd rather work in a full editor with an agent, see Cursor and Claude Code, which lead our coding ranking overall.

You want mobile apps or a full cloud IDE

Look at Replit. It scores 82, and it's the only one of these with iOS and Android apps.

Tips that apply to all three

  • Write one clear first prompt. Describe the users, the main screens and the data you need to store. Vague prompts burn credits on rework.
  • Make small follow-ups. One change per message is easier for the agent to get right, and easier for you to undo.
  • Keep the code somewhere you control. Use GitHub sync or export early so you aren't locked in if you outgrow the tool.
  • Review before launch. AI-built apps can ship with security gaps. Have someone check authentication, data access rules and secrets before real users arrive.

Our verdict

Lovable is our top pick on the current scores, mainly because it's the easiest way to get a full app running. Bolt is the value pick and the fastest route to a working prototype. v0 produces the most polished output for developers already on GitHub and Vercel. The scores are close, so try the free plan of the one that matches your situation first.
