⚡ Quick answer

Best overall: Gamma (84/100). It turns a prompt, outline or file into a designed deck and exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides, with a free plan to try. Try Gamma

  • Best for design and brand assets: Canva (83/100)
  • Best for consistent business decks: Beautiful.ai (79/100)
  • Best inside Google Slides or PowerPoint: Plus AI (78/100)
  • Already on Microsoft 365? Copilot in PowerPoint (77/100) may already be included in your plan.

"AI presentation maker" covers two different workflows. Some tools generate a finished deck in their own editor that you share as a link or export. Others add AI to the slide app you already use. Which one you need depends mostly on where the final deck has to live. Below we rank the five presentation tools we score, using the same public 0–100 score as our Productivity ranking, then explain who each one is for.

How the scores break down

Every score is a weighted sum of six factors (how we rank). Fit and quality carry the most weight. Ease and value separate tools that let you start free from those that need a paid plan or trial.

Who each tool is for

1. Gamma

AI presentations, docs, and websites
84*

Gamma is built around one idea: describe what you need, or paste an outline, PDF or PowerPoint file, and get a complete, designed deck back. You then edit it in Gamma's card-based editor and share it as a link, or export it to PDF, PPTX, PNG or Google Slides. Exporting is available even on the free plan. The same tool also makes documents and simple websites.

Who it's for: founders, marketers, teachers and anyone who needs a good-looking first draft fast and is happy to present from a link or a lightly edited export. Who it's not for: teams whose decks must follow a strict corporate PowerPoint template. Gamma generates in its own editor and themes, so check an exported PPTX against your template before you rely on it.

Watch out for: the free plan gives 400 credits once at signup, and they don't refill. It also caps generation at 10 slides per prompt, and shared and exported content carries Gamma branding. Plus removes the branding and adds 1,000 credits a month.

Pricing: Free (400 one-time credits, up to 10 slides per prompt, exports carry Gamma branding); Plus $12/mo ($9/mo billed annually); Pro $25/mo ($18/mo billed annually); Ultra $100/mo ($90/mo billed annually); Business and Enterprise plans for teams. 2. Canva

All-in-one design platform with an AI presentation maker
83*

Canva is a full design platform, and its AI presentation maker (Magic Design for Presentations) is one feature among many. You describe the deck, pick from generated drafts, then finish it with Canva's huge template and stock library, Brand Kits and collaboration. Because the deck lives inside Canva, you can reuse the same assets for social posts, videos and print.

Who it's for: marketers, educators and small teams who care about visual polish and already use Canva for other content. Who it's not for: people who mainly want the AI to structure and write the whole deck. Magic Design gives you a draft built from Canva templates, and Canva's strength is what you can do with it afterwards.

Watch out for: the free plan includes Magic Design up to 10 times and a small AI allowance. Pro (US$144 a year for one person) gives 10x the free AI allowance, premium templates and 5 Brand Kits.

Pricing: Free (limited AI uses; Magic Design up to 10 times); Pro US$144/year for one person; Business US$250/year per person; Enterprise custom. AI Pass add-on available at extra cost. Checked Oct 20, 2026. Full Canva score breakdown →

3. Beautiful.ai

Presentation software with AI generation and auto-formatting Smart Slides
79*

Beautiful.ai is presentation software with guardrails. Its 300+ Smart Slide layouts rearrange themselves as you add content, so spacing, alignment and fonts stay consistent without manual nudging. AI content generation is unlimited on paid plans, and it imports and exports PowerPoint.

Who it's for: sales, consulting and internal-comms teams who ship many client-facing decks and want them to look consistent. The Team plan adds shared slide libraries, locked slides and viewer analytics. Who it's not for: casual users or students. There's no free plan, and the layout guardrails can feel restrictive for unusual designs.

Watch out for: the 14-day trial requires a credit card and is charged automatically if you don't cancel. Pro is $14.50 a month billed annually.

Pricing: 14-day free trial (credit card required); Pro $14.50/mo billed annually; Team $40/user/mo billed annually ($50 monthly), 2-20 users; Enterprise custom. Checked Oct 20, 2026. Full Beautiful.ai score breakdown →

4. Plus AI

AI presentation maker that works inside Google Slides and PowerPoint
78*

Plus AI is an add-on, not a new editor. It generates whole presentations, inserts single slides, and rewrites or "remixes" existing slides directly inside Google Slides and PowerPoint, so the result is a normal file in the app you already use. Pro and higher plans add document uploads, an API and an MCP server for using it from AI assistants.

Who it's for: people who must deliver native Google Slides or PowerPoint files, such as consultants, corporate teams and teachers on school Google accounts. Who it's not for: anyone who wants a free option. Every plan is paid after a 7-day trial (credit card required).

Watch out for: usage is credit-based. Basic includes 1,500 AI credits a month, and Plus AI says typical tasks use 40–170 credits depending on complexity.

Pricing: 7-day trial with 1,000 AI credits (card required); Basic $10/user/mo billed annually ($15 monthly), 1,500 credits/mo; Pro $20 ($25 monthly), 3,000 credits/mo; Team $30 ($40 monthly), 6,000 credits/mo; Max $200 ($240 monthly), unlimited credits. 5. Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint

Microsoft's AI assistant built into PowerPoint
77*

If you already pay for Microsoft 365, you may already have an AI presentation maker. Copilot in PowerPoint helps draft presentations by generating outlines and recommending images and layouts, and it works natively in .pptx files with your existing templates. Individuals get it with Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or Premium. Businesses get it through a Microsoft 365 plan that includes Copilot, or the Copilot Business add-on.

Who it's for: Microsoft 365 households and businesses that live in PowerPoint and want AI help without another subscription or app. Who it's not for: anyone who isn't already on Microsoft 365. Buying a suite just for slide generation is poor value next to the dedicated tools above.

Watch out for: in the Family plan, Microsoft says the AI features are for the subscription owner only. On business plans, some advanced Copilot features are billed by usage on top of the license.

Pricing: Individuals: Microsoft 365 Personal $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr; Family $12.99/mo or $129.99/yr; Premium $19.99/mo or $199.99/yr. Business: Business Standard with Copilot $23.50/user/mo and Business Premium with Copilot $32/user/mo (paid yearly); Copilot Business add-on $21/user/mo paid yearly ($18 promotional first-year price through Dec 31, 2026). How to choose an AI presentation maker

1. Decide where the final deck has to live

This decides more than anything else. If you present from a link or send a PDF, a standalone generator like Gamma is the simplest route. If the deck must be an editable PowerPoint or Google Slides file in your company template, use a tool that works inside that app (Plus AI or Copilot), or budget time to fix the export.

2. Check the free plan's limits before you build on it

Free plans here are for trying the tool, not for ongoing work. Gamma's free credits don't refill and its exports are branded. Canva's free plan includes Magic Design up to 10 times. Beautiful.ai and Plus AI have card-required trials that renew automatically if you don't cancel.

3. Estimate how many decks you make

Gamma, Plus AI and Canva meter AI use with credits or allowances. Beautiful.ai's paid plans include unlimited AI content generation. One deck a month and several client decks a week need very different plans, so compare on your real volume.

4. Bring your brand

If decks must match brand colors, fonts and logos, check where that's included: custom branding is on Gamma Pro, Brand Kits on Canva Pro, custom themes on Beautiful.ai Pro, and custom branding on Plus AI's Team plan.

5. Test with a real deck

Run the same brief, such as "a 10-slide quarterly update from these notes", through two or three tools, then open the result where you'll actually present it. The cleanup time after generation is the real cost.

What about ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants?

General assistants can draft slide content too. Claude lists Claude Slides on every plan, including Free, and ChatGPT Plus includes extensions for PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Google Sheets. We score them in our Productivity ranking (ChatGPT 86, Claude 83), but those scores cover everyday productivity as a whole, not slide design, so they aren't ranked against the dedicated tools above. If you already pay for one, try it on your outline first, then move to a dedicated presentation maker if you need finished design.

Our verdict

Gamma is the default pick for most people: the most direct way from an idea to a designed deck, with a free plan to try it on your own outline. Pick Canva if visual polish and reusable brand assets matter most, and Beautiful.ai for teams that need every deck to look consistent. Choose Plus AI or Copilot in PowerPoint when the deck has to stay a native Google Slides or PowerPoint file.

FAQ

What is the best AI presentation maker in 2026?

On our current scores it's Gamma (84/100 in our Productivity ranking), just ahead of Canva (83). Gamma turns a prompt, outline or file into a designed deck, and exports to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides. Our scores are preliminary editorial estimates until we finish hands-on tests.

Is there a free AI presentation maker?

Yes. Gamma has a free plan with 400 one-time credits, up to 10 slides per prompt, and exports to PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides (with Gamma branding). Canva's free plan includes Magic Design for Presentations up to 10 times. Beautiful.ai and Plus AI only offer trials, and both require a credit card.

Which AI presentation maker works with PowerPoint?

Plus AI and Copilot work inside PowerPoint itself. Plus AI also works inside Google Slides. Gamma can import PowerPoint files and export to PPTX, and Beautiful.ai imports and exports PowerPoint. If your deck must stay in a corporate template, generate inside PowerPoint rather than exporting from another tool.

Can ChatGPT or Claude make a presentation?

They can help. Claude lists Claude Slides on all its plans, including Free, and ChatGPT Plus includes extensions for PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Google Sheets. They are general assistants, though, so we don't rank them against dedicated slide tools here. Their scores on our site cover general productivity, not slide design.

Is Gamma better than Canva for presentations?

On our scores Gamma (84) is slightly ahead of Canva (83) for this job mainly on fit: it's built specifically to generate whole decks from a prompt or file. Canva wins if you need a big template and stock library, brand kits, or the same design reused across social, video and print.

Does an affiliate link change your ranking?

No. The ranking code only reads scores. None of the tools in this guide has an affiliate link on our site right now. If that changes, the link will be labeled, and the order will stay exactly the same.
